Refund Policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
The short version
Within 7 days, we refund a payment in full if you have not spent any of the credits it bought. Once a credit has been spent it has run an AI model and cannot come back.
Failed generations are re-credited automatically, and the free plan is there so you can write a whole book before paying anything.
This box is a summary and nothing more. Where it and the sections below disagree, the sections below are what applies.
1.The rule
The reason is not meanness, and it is worth stating: spending a credit runs an AI model, and that costs us money at the moment it runs. It cannot be given back afterwards. What has not been used has cost nothing, and there is no reason for us to keep your money for it.
Your credit ledger records every credit granted and spent, so “still unspent” is a matter of record rather than of opinion. Ask and we will tell you exactly what it says.
2.Try it before you pay at all
The free plan grants 30 credits — enough to plan and write a complete book and read it in the app. Nothing about the writing is different on a paid plan. Use that first: it is a better test of whether BookArc suits you than any refund window, and it is why the window below is as short as it is.
3.Subscriptions
- Your first payment on a plan. Refunded in full within 7 days, as long as none of the credits it granted have been spent. Spend one and the window closes — write to us anyway if something has gone genuinely wrong, because section 5 is a separate matter.
- Renewals. A renewal that caught you out is refunded within 7 days if the credits it granted are untouched. Once any of them have been spent, it is not — so if you know you are done, cancel before the renewal date rather than after it.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from your billing page. It stops the next payment and nothing else — you keep the plan and its credits until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a period you chose to leave early.
4.Top-ups ($15)
A top-up adds 100 credits to your balance in one go. Because those credits are spent as you write, the rule is the strict version of the one above:
- Refunded in full within 7 days if none of it has been touched — that is, your balance still holds at least the 100 credits it added.
- Spent, even partly, and it is not refunded — those generations have already run and been paid for.
- Bought by mistake, twice by accident, or bought minutes ago and untouched? Write to us. That is what the 7 days are for.
5.When it is our fault
If a generation fails on our side, the credits are returned to your balance automatically — you do not have to ask, and it is not counted against any of the rules above.
If something larger goes wrong — an outage that lasts, or a fault that spoils work you paid for — write to us and we will put it right in credits or in money, whichever you would rather have. We would rather refund somebody than argue with them.
What is not a fault: not liking what the model wrote. AI writing is uneven, that is why the free plan exists, and taste is not a defect we can refund for.
6.How to ask
Email support@bookarc.ai from the address on the account, and say what you bought and when. That is the whole process — there is no form.
- We reply within two business days.
- Approved refunds are issued through Polar, back to the card or account you paid with.
- Polar and your bank take it from there — usually 5 to 10 business days before it shows up.
7.Chargebacks
Please write to us before you dispute a charge with your bank. A chargeback costs us a fee on top of the amount and takes weeks to resolve, where an email takes a day — and we will refund anything that falls under the rule above without an argument. Accounts with an open chargeback are suspended until it is settled.
8.Your statutory rights
Consumers in the EU and the UK have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital services. That right comes from the law, not from this page, and nothing here shortens it:
- The 7-day promise above is our own, and it is in addition to that right. Inside 7 days, with the credits untouched, you get your money back without being asked why.
- Beyond that, if you have a statutory withdrawal right, exercise it and we will honour it — write to us and say so.
- One thing to know about it: by spending credits you are asking us to start supplying the service straight away, and once it has been supplied the withdrawal right ends for what was used. That is the same line our own rule draws, and it is why an untouched balance is the thing that matters in both.
Nothing in this policy removes a right you have by law, and where a law where you live gives you more than this page does, that law wins.
